O Queen lança no próximo dia 25 de outubro uma edição remixada e expandida do seu álbum de estreia homônimo. O box deluxe contará com 6 CDs e 1 LP.
No total, são 63 faixas, incluindo o disco original, versões demo, takes alternativos e registros ao vivo. Também houve espaço para encaixar “Mad the Swine”, excluída do tracklist original. Um livro de 108 páginas completa o pacote.
O trabalho de restauração foi feito pelo trio Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae e Kris Fredriksson. A proposta foi dar ao material o tratamento que a banda sempre desejou, mas não conseguiu à época tanto pelo parcos recursos financeiros quanto pela própria limitação tecnológica do período em comparação às possibilidade atuais.
Além da caixa, a obra também estará disponível em versões compactas em CD simples e duplo; LP convenciona e picture disc, além de K7.
Em nota oficial publicada no seu site, o guitarrista Brian May destacou:
“Esta não é apenas uma remasterização, mas a reconstrução de todo o álbum de estreia do Queen, que, com o benefício da retrospectiva, renomeamos ‘QUEEN I’. Todas as performances são exatamente como apareceram originalmente em 1973, mas cada instrumento foi revisitado para produzir os sons ambientes ‘ao vivo’ que gostaríamos de usar originalmente. O resultado é o Queen como soaria com o conhecimento e a tecnologia de hoje – uma genuína estreia.”

A estreia do Queen
Lançado em 13 de julho de 1973, o álbum de estreia do Queen não obteve grande repercussão à época. Porém, com o sucesso posterior da banda, acabou ganhando discos de ouro nos Estados Unidos e Inglaterra.
A sonoridade mesclava elementos épicos que remetiam ao rock progressivo e ao então ascendente heavy metal. A mídia estabeleceu várias comparações com o Led Zeppelin, especialmente por conta das letras de cunho fantasioso. “Keep Yourself Alive” e “Liar” foram usadas como singles.
